The Lizzie Borden Trial Transcripts, Official Stenographic Report By Frank H. Burt
On the morning of August 4th, 1892, Andrew Borden was murdered in his home in Fall River, Massachusetts. Lizzie Borden at once told Bridget, the maid her father had been killed. A search of the home led to the discovery of the body of Lizzie’s stepmother, Abby Borden in a bedroom upstairs. She, too had been brutally attacked and killed.

The Inquest Testimony of Lizzie Borden was conducted over three days, from August 9th through August 11th 1892. Judge Josiah C. Blaisdell of the Second District Court presided over the proceedings held in a courtroom over the police station in Fall River, Massachusetts.

The Lizzie Borden Preliminary Hearing, Josiah C. Blaisdell Presiding
After the inquest trial adjourned Lizzie Borden was placed under arrested. The next day Lizzie entered a plea of not guilty. She was transported to the jail in Taunton, eight miles north of Fall River, then returned to Fall River on August 22 for her preliminary hearing.
The Preliminary Hearing began on August 25, 1892. The Hearing lasted for seven days, ending on September 1, 1892. At the end of the hearing, Lizzie Borden was found “probably guilty” by Judge Blaisdell and ordered to face a grand jury and possible charges for the murder of her father and step-mother.

Conspiracy Trial For The Murder Of The President, Edited with an introduction by Ben Perley Poore
Ben Perley Poore, a Washington correspondent of the Boston Journal, published the first two volumes in 1865 by copying the daily trial transcripts published in the Washington National Intelligencer. He published the third volume the following year.
Public interest in the trial faded and Mr. Poore didn’t publish a fourth volume.
