On the morning of August 4th, 1892, Andrew Borden was murdered in his home in Fall River, Massachusetts. Lizzie Borden at once told Bridget, the maid her father had been killed. A search of the home led to the discovery of the body of Lizzie’s stepmother, Abby Borden in a bedroom upstairs. She, too had been brutally attacked and killed.
Lizzie Borden was indicted on December 2, 1892, charged with the murder of her father and stepmother. Her trial began the following June.
